Power supply troubleshooting

Diagnose power-related hardware issues by checking voltage, connectors, and boot behavior.

Symptoms

  • Computer does not power on or shows no signal.
  • Fans spin but system fails to boot.
  • Unexpected shutdowns during use.

Steps tried

  1. Tested the power adapter and supply cables.
  2. Swapped in a known good PSU unit.
  3. Checked motherboard power connectors for debris.

Repair process

  1. Measure output voltage from the PSU rails.
  2. Replace the power supply if voltages are unstable.
  3. Secure all power cables and retest the system boot.
Verified: stable power restored and system boots normally after PSU replacement.
