Component replacement

How to safely swap out faulty hardware components and verify the replacement works correctly.

Symptoms

  • Newly installed hardware does not respond.
  • System fails to POST after component swap.
  • Device driver or hardware errors appear.

Steps tried

  1. Checked connectors and placement of the new part.
  2. Tested the component in another compatible system.
  3. Updated firmware or drivers after installation.

Repair process

  1. Power down and ground yourself before handling parts.
  2. Install the replacement component firmly and securely.
  3. Boot into BIOS and verify the component is detected.
